Ok, it's been a while and posts will begin regularly again after the New Year. In the meantime, here's a mix version of "Connection" to keep you busy for a minute...
Finally found some time to throw out a new post. This week has been a frustrating mix of snow, rain, slush, sleet, sun, and everythnig in between. At this point, I don't care if it snows or the sun comes out, just no more rain!!!!!!! Oh, and the dog feels the same way I do.
Start off your Thursday right with a some funky sounds from Ghosthustler. I don't know much about them, but will probably be looking for some more soon.
If you haven't heard of Portland's own Blitzen Trapper yet, today is a great day for your musical pallet. They've been rockin' like a magic kiss since 2003, but have only recently released a new album on Sub Pop Records (Nirvana, Death Cab, The Shins, Modest Mouse, Fleet Foxes, etc.) records. Yet another band from Portland about to explode on the national scene, Blitzen Trapper is a perfect compliment to your ears this December. Enjoy the downloads!
Those of you who have known me for a while know what a fan of Martin Sexton I have become over the years. When I first heard "The Beast in Me" back in 1999, it was obvious that this guy possessed something special. In 2006, my wife and I had the chance to see him on Earth Day @ Grand Central Station in New York. A few hundred people and a sunny day in NYC seemed to be the recipe for the perfect concert. Here's a video from the show and a track from New Year's @ The Calvin Theatre. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Never one to be up to date on hip hop releases, here's a cut from(maybe) the upcoming(when?) Lil Wayne album, The Drought is Over Part 6. Or is it Part XIV? I don't know how long ago or where it leaked from, but maybe someone out there will like it. Crossing Green Day elements and Lil Wayne? You be the judge.
I'm sure I heard this song on a TV show lately, but can't for the life of me place which one. What I do remember, however, is that it keeps playing over and over in my head. A Swedish duo spawning from the genius of Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, Yo La Tengo), Marching Band brings an indie pop reminiscent of The Shins or Belle and Sebastian. Take a listen:
Today I feel like adding a bit more to this post. This song goes out to all the Beavers fans who already bought tickets to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl. You still have an outside chance, but next time don't bank on rolling over Mighty Oregon before it happens. You definitely have a lesson to be learned. Go Ducks!!!
